Grand Seiko

The first Grand Seiko was manufactured by Suwa Seikosha (now Seiko Epson) in 1960 in Nagano, Japan. Grand Seiko’s aim was to make a watch that was accurate, durable, easy to wear and as beautiful as possible. Following the popularity of the first Grand Seiko, the Grand Seiko Self-dater was produced in 1964, which also featured a date wheel and improved water-resistance. In 2004, the first Grand Seiko Spring Drive (Calibre 9R65) was released, combining the wrist-powered winding mechanism of a mechanical self-winding watch with the precision of a quartz watch. Today, Grand Seiko’s precision and stunning finish are a mainstay of the brand and enjoy a wide following among watch enthusiasts. Grand Seiko’s most popular contemporary models are the 9S65 series automatic and the 9S66 series hi-beat GMT automatic.
