Piaget
Georges-Edouard Piaget began making watch parts and mechanisms in a workshop on his home farm in 1874. Piaget’s motto was “Always do better than necessary” and soon his reputation grew, producing parts and movements for the most prestigious Swiss watch brands. In the 1920s, Piaget’s son Timothee began to transform the company from a manufacturer of parts and movements to a producer of pocket watches and wristwatches. This evolution continued when the third generation, Gerald and Valentin, took over the company. In 1943, Piaget became a registered brand name and two years later the first production facility was opened in La Côte-aux-Fées. In 1957, the Piaget 9P machine caused a sensation at the Basel Fair, and in 1960 Piaget created the world’s thinnest automatic watch, the 12P. These achievements helped to establish Piaget as a respected manufacturer of elegant men’s watches. Piaget’s most famous watch, the Piaget Polo, was launched in 1979. Today, Piaget’s most popular lines include the Altiplano, the Emperador and the Polo S.
